🇸🇦Saudi Arabia🇶🇦QatarSA-QA Saudi Arabia to Qatar visa requirements
Saudi Arabia ordinary passport holders travel to Qatar visa-free as Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) citizens. No visa is required, and entry is even permitted on a valid Saudi national ID card (smart card) at land, air, and sea ports. Saudi Arabia and Qatar are both members of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), which maintains a long-standing mutual free-movement arrangement among its citizens (Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE). A Saudi national traveling to Qatar for tourism or a short visit does not need a visa, an eVisa, or any prior approval. Qatar Tourism (Visit Qatar), the official destination authority, confirms that "Nationals of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries do not require a visa to enter Qatar." Saudi citizens may enter using a valid Saudi passport or, in practice, a valid Saudi national ID (smart) card, which is accepted at GCC border crossings including the Abu Samra / Salwa land crossing reopened after the 2021 Al-Ula reconciliation. There is no fixed maximum tourist stay for GCC citizens comparable to a visa duration; GCC nationals are generally admitted for residence-like free movement, though those intending to remain long-term may regularise status locally. The separate Hayya platform and visa-on-arrival schemes apply to non-GCC nationals and to foreign residents of GCC states, not to Saudi citizens. The GCC unified tourist visa (still being rolled out) does not affect Saudi citizens, who already enjoy visa-free access. Travelers should carry a passport valid for at least six months as a precaution and confirm whether they are crossing by land (national ID accepted) or by air (passport recommended for airline check-in). This arrangement is stable and was reconfirmed for 2025-2026.
