Saudi Arabia to Greece visa requirements

Saudi Arabian ordinary passport holders need a Schengen short-stay (Type C) visa to visit Greece for tourism. Greece is a Schengen state and Saudi Arabia is on the EU's visa-required list (Annex I of Regulation 2018/1806), so a visa must be obtained before travel, lodged via VFS Global in Saudi Arabia. ETIAS does not apply to Saudi nationals. Greece is a member of the Schengen Area, and Saudi Arabia is listed in Annex I of EU Regulation (EU) 2018/1806 — the roster of third countries whose nationals must hold a visa to cross Schengen external borders. Accordingly, a Saudi ordinary passport holder must obtain a uniform Schengen short-stay (Type C) visa before traveling to Greece for tourism or a short visit. There is no visa-on-arrival, eVisa, or visa-free channel for this nationality. Importantly, ETIAS (the visa-waiver travel authorisation launching in late 2026) applies only to visa-exempt nationalities and does NOT cover Saudi nationals, who continue to need a full Schengen visa. The visa permits stays of up to 90 days within any rolling 180-day period across the entire Schengen Area, not just Greece. Applications from Saudi Arabia are submitted through VFS Global visa application centres in Riyadh and Khobar on behalf of the Consular Office of the Embassy of Greece in Riyadh; biometrics (fingerprints and a facial photo) are captured at the time of application. The standard Schengen visa fee rose to EUR 90 for adults effective 11 June 2026, plus a VFS Global service fee. Note also that the EU Entry/Exit System (EES) became fully operational on 10 April 2026, so on arrival in Greece travelers register biometrics instead of receiving a passport stamp; this records entry/exit dates and helps enforce the 90/180 rule. Applicants should apply well ahead of travel (typically 15 calendar days minimum, up to 6 months in advance), and provide travel medical insurance with at least EUR 30,000 coverage, confirmed accommodation, return travel, and proof of sufficient funds.
