Russian Federation to Uruguay visa requirements

Russian ordinary passport holders do NOT need a visa for tourist trips to Uruguay. You may stay visa-free for up to 90 days within any 180-day period under the bilateral visa-waiver agreement in force since 27 December 2011. Citizens of the Russian Federation holding an ordinary (regular) passport can enter Uruguay for tourism, family visits or business meetings without a visa, thanks to a mutual visa-exemption agreement between Russia and Uruguay that entered into force on 27 December 2011. The permitted stay is up to 90 days within any 180-day period. At the border, travelers must hold a passport valid for at least six months beyond the intended stay, show proof of onward or return travel, and may be asked to demonstrate sufficient funds and accommodation details. No application, eVisa or visa-on-arrival is required or available for this route; entry is granted by the immigration officer at the port of entry (Carrasco International Airport in Montevideo or land/sea crossings). Stays may be extended for a further period by applying domestically to the National Migration Directorate (Direccion Nacional de Migracion). Work, study or stays longer than the visa-free allowance require an appropriate visa or residence permit obtained in advance. Uruguay is in South America and is not part of the Schengen area, so no Schengen 90/180 rule or ETIAS authorization applies to entry into Uruguay itself.
