Russian ordinary passport holders need a visa for Tanzania. A Russian citizen holding an ordinary passport is NOT visa-exempt for Tanzania and must obtain a visa for tourism. The standard and recommended route is the Tanzania eVisa (Ordinary Visa, single entry), applied for online via the official immigration eServices portal before departure. The government fee is USD 50, the visa permits a maximum stay of 90 days and is generally valid for use within 90 days of issue, with a single entry. Official processing is stated as within 10 days, so travelers should apply at least two weeks before departure. Tanzania's official immigration guidelines still list visa-on-arrival as an alternative for eligible nationalities (including Russia) at major ports of entry, but eVisa is the encouraged channel and avoids airport queues. Passports must be valid for at least 6 months from entry with at least one blank visa page. Travelers should apply ONLY through the official portal (eservices.immigration.go.tz / visa.immigration.go.tz); any quote above USD 50 for an Ordinary Visa indicates an unauthorized agent.
