Russian Federation to Laos visa requirements

Russian ordinary passport holders do NOT need a visa for Laos. They can enter visa-free for up to 30 days for tourism under a bilateral visa-exemption agreement in force since December 2017. No visa fee applies, but all travelers must complete the free online Lao Digital Immigration Form (LDIF) before arrival or departure (mandatory since 1 September 2025). Holders of Russian ordinary passports enjoy visa-free entry to Laos for stays of up to 30 days for tourism, business, or leisure. This is based on the Russia-Laos bilateral agreement on mutual visa exemption for ordinary passport holders, signed 8 September 2016 in Vientiane and in force since 2 December 2017. The agreement applies to those not seeking employment, study, or permanent residence. There is no visa fee for this channel. Travelers must hold a passport valid for at least six months beyond the intended stay, with at least one blank page, and should carry proof of onward/return travel and accommodation. Since 1 September 2025, all foreign nationals (including visa-exempt travelers) must complete the Lao Digital Immigration Form (LDIF) online at major airports and the Lao-Thai Friendship Bridge crossings before entry or departure; the form itself is free. Those wishing to stay longer than 30 days should obtain a Laos eVisa (approximately USD 50 / 200,000 LAK for up to 30 days) or a visa from a Lao embassy/consulate, or extend at the Lao Immigration Department in Vientiane. Overstaying carries a fine of USD 10 per day. The verdict is visa-free for short tourist stays.
