Russian Federation to Croatia visa requirements

A Russian ordinary passport holder needs a Schengen Type C short-stay visa to visit Croatia for tourism. Croatia has been a full Schengen member since 1 January 2023, so a uniform Schengen visa is required and must be obtained before travel. ETIAS does NOT apply to Russians, because it is only for visa-exempt nationalities. Since the EU-Russia Visa Facilitation Agreement was suspended in September 2022, the fee is EUR 80, processing is longer, more documents are required, and (as of November 2025) multiple-entry visas are generally no longer issued to Russian nationals. Croatia is a member of the European Union and, since 1 January 2023, a full member of the Schengen Area. Russian citizens are not on the EU visa-exempt list, so they must apply for a Schengen short-stay (Type C) visa before any tourist trip to Croatia. The visa permits stays of up to 90 days within any 180-day period across the entire Schengen Area. Applications are lodged in person at a Croatian embassy/consulate or an authorised VFS Global centre, normally after completing the online form at crovisa.mvep.hr. Because the EU fully suspended the Visa Facilitation Agreement with Russia on 9 September 2022, Russian applicants face the standard EUR 80 fee (no longer the reduced EUR 35), enhanced scrutiny, longer processing, and additional documentary requirements. From November 2025 the European Commission has further restricted multiple-entry visas for Russian nationals, meaning most applicants now receive single-entry visas and must reapply for each trip. ETIAS (launching late 2026) is irrelevant here, as it only covers visa-exempt travellers. Travellers should apply well in advance, secure Schengen-wide travel insurance of at least EUR 30,000, and demonstrate sufficient funds (roughly EUR 70-100 per day).
