🇵🇹Portugal🇦🇺AustraliaPT-AU Portugal to Australia visa requirements
Portuguese passport holders need an Australian visa before travel; the free eVisitor subclass 651 is the usual short-visit route. Portuguese ordinary passport holders cannot enter Australia visa-free or get a visa on arrival. For tourism, visiting family or friends, business visitor activities, or study/training for up to 3 months, Portugal is on Australia's eVisitor subclass 651 eligible passport list. The eVisitor is free, applied online through ImmiAccount while outside Australia, valid for 12 months from grant, and allows multiple entries with stays of up to 3 months after each entry. Portugal is also listed for the Electronic Travel Authority subclass 601, but the ETA uses the Australian ETA app and has a AUD 20 app service charge; the free eVisitor is normally the better official route for Portuguese travellers. Do not travel until the visa is granted. Visitor-category median processing is currently listed as less than 1 day, but the Home Affairs guide is only indicative and applications can take longer if information is requested. Paid work, residence, or stays over 3 months require a different visa.
