Polish ordinary passport holders need a Sri Lanka ETA (Electronic Travel Authorisation) before travel. Since 25 May 2026 the ETA is free of charge for Poland (one of 40 designated countries), valid for a 30-day tourist stay, but it remains mandatory and must be obtained online before arrival. Sri Lanka is not visa-free for Polish citizens, but it is also not a paid-visa destination as of 2026. Poland is among the 40 countries that, effective 25 May 2026, receive a free-of-charge tourist ETA. The ETA (Electronic Travel Authorisation) is still compulsory: every Polish traveller must apply online via the official portal eta.gov.lk before boarding. Approval is electronically linked to the passport. The free ETA permits tourism, holidays, visiting relatives, medical treatment, and cultural/sporting events for up to 30 days, with double entry. Employment and business are not allowed. Passports must be valid at least 6 months on arrival with blank pages, and travellers should hold proof of funds and a return/onward ticket. Sri Lanka is in South Asia and is NOT part of the Schengen area, so Schengen 90/180 and ETIAS rules do not apply. Travellers who paid for an ETA before 25 May 2026 are not eligible for refunds. For stays beyond 30 days, an extension can be obtained from the Department of Immigration and Emigration in Colombo for a fee.
