🇵🇱Poland🇰🇵North KoreaPL-KP Poland to North Korea visa requirements
Polish ordinary passport holders need a visa to visit North Korea (DPRK). There is no visa-free, visa-on-arrival, or eVisa option. The tourist visa must be arranged in advance through a state-authorized tour operator, and independent travel is not permitted. Note: as of mid-2026 the DPRK remains effectively closed to Western/European tourists, so travel may not be possible regardless of visa eligibility. A Polish citizen holding an ordinary passport requires a tourist visa to enter North Korea. North Korea is not in the Schengen area and grants no visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to Polish nationals. All tourism must be booked through a tour operator registered with the State General Bureau of Tourist Guidance; independent or unguided travel is prohibited. The operator handles the visa application with the DPRK authorities, and the visa is normally issued as a separate tourist card (blue slip) rather than stamped in the passport, often collected in Beijing before crossing or issued on arrival via the agency. Citizens of South Korea and the United States cannot obtain tourist visas; Poland is an eligible nationality. Critically, since the COVID-era border closure in January 2020, North Korea has remained largely closed to international tourism. A brief reopening of the Rason zone in February 2025 lasted about two weeks before closing again, and as of mid-2026 access is restricted mainly to Russian tourists and select Chinese groups. No confirmed reopening date for general (including European) tourism has been announced. Travelers should treat the route as visa-required and verify operational status with a reputable operator before making plans.
