Poland to Iran visa requirements

Polish (PL) ordinary passport holders need a visa for Iran. The standard route is the Iran eVisa: apply online at the official Ministry of Foreign Affairs portal, receive a visa grant notice, then collect and pay for the visa stamp (around EUR 75) at the airport or an Iranian consulate. Poland is NOT on Iran's visa-on-arrival list, so a pre-arranged grant notice must be shown before boarding a flight to Iran. As of mid-2026, a Poland ordinary-passport tourist cannot enter Iran visa-free and is not on Iran's visa-on-arrival exemption list. The correct channel is the Iran electronic visa (eVisa), issued by the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) via its official portal evisa.mfa.ir. The applicant submits an online application with passport scan, photo, itinerary and proof of travel insurance, and receives a visa grant notice (reference code). The visa itself is then stamped/collected at an Iranian consulate or, more commonly, at the airport on arrival, where the stamp fee (about EUR 75 for most EU nationals, including Poland) is paid in cash. Many independent travelers and tour agencies report that applying through a licensed Iranian travel agency yields faster approval (roughly 3-7 working days) and a lower rejection rate than direct government applications (up to 14 working days). A standard tourist visa allows a 30-day stay, extendable inside Iran twice (up to 90 days total), and the visa is generally valid for entry within about 3 months of issuance. Passports must be valid at least 6 months beyond the intended stay. Iran is NOT part of the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply. Note an important practical caveat: an Iranian visa stamp can complicate future travel to the United States under the Visa Waiver / ESTA program, though Iran now records entries electronically and issues the visa on a separate document rather than stamping the passport.
