Poland to Iraq visa requirements

Polish ordinary passport holders need an eVisa to visit federal Iraq. Iraq abolished visa-on-arrival on 1 March 2025, and Poland (as an EU state) is eligible to apply online via the official evisa.iq portal before travel. As of June 2026, a Poland (PL) ordinary passport holder traveling to Iraq (IQ) for tourism must obtain an electronic visa (eVisa) before departure through the official portal evisa.iq. Iraq is NOT in the Schengen area, so no 90/180 rule or ETIAS applies. Until early 2025 many nationalities (including EU citizens) could use visa-on-arrival, but Iraq suspended VoA from 1 March 2025 and replaced it with the mandatory pre-travel eVisa. Although Poland does not appear on some published "37-country" lists, all 27 EU member states (Poland included) are eligible to apply for the eVisa, and confirmation must be obtained before boarding. The Visit/tourist eVisa is single-entry, must be used within 90 days of issuance, and permits a stay of up to 30 days. The total fee is 206,000 IQD (roughly USD 159 / EUR 145) and includes mandatory health insurance valid for the stay. Processing is typically 24-72 hours, with some EU applicants approved within 6-24 hours; applying about a week ahead is advised. The passport must be valid for at least 6 months with a blank page. Note that the Kurdistan Region of Iraq operates its own separate visa system (visit.gov.krd) with its own eVisa/entry permit; a federal Iraq eVisa and a Kurdistan permit are not always interchangeable for travel between the two zones. Several aggregator sites still display outdated "visa-free" or "visa-on-arrival" information predating the March 2025 change; travelers should rely on the official evisa.iq portal. Travelers should also check current security advisories, as much of Iraq carries elevated travel-risk warnings.
