Do Philippines passport holders need a visa to visit Portugal (Schengen)?

Philippine passport holders need a Schengen short-stay (Type C) visa to visit Portugal for tourism — apply before you travel. Portugal is part of the Schengen Area, and Philippine ordinary passport holders are NOT on the Schengen visa-exempt list. A Schengen short-stay (Type C) visa must be obtained BEFORE travel for tourism, business, or family visits of up to 90 days within any 180-day period across the whole Schengen zone. Applications from the Philippines are lodged at VFS Global in Manila or Cebu (Portugal does not maintain a visa-issuing embassy in Manila, so applications are handled through the appointed center / representing mission). The standard adult visa fee is EUR 90 plus a VFS service fee, and you must hold travel medical insurance covering at least EUR 30,000. The upcoming ETIAS travel authorization (expected to launch in late 2026) does NOT apply to Filipinos — it is only for visa-exempt nationalities — so a full Schengen visa remains mandatory.
