🇵🇭PHILIPPINES🇲🇽MEXICOPH-MX Do Philippines passport holders need a visa to visit Mexico?
Philippine ordinary passport holders need a visa for Mexico — apply for a consular visitor visa before travel, UNLESS you hold a valid US, Canada, Japan, UK, or Schengen visa or permanent residency, which lets you enter visa-free for up to 180 days. As of 30 May 2026, Philippine ordinary passport holders are NOT visa-exempt for Mexico and must obtain a visitor visa (visa de visitante sin permiso para realizar actividades remuneradas) from a Mexican embassy or consulate before travel. The Philippines is not on Mexico's Electronic Authorization (SAE) list, which currently covers only Brazil, Russia, Turkey and Ukraine, so there is no online alternative. However, Mexico applies a broad exemption: any traveler holding a valid (unexpired) multiple-entry visa from the United States, Canada, Japan, the United Kingdom, or any Schengen Area country — or permanent residency in those jurisdictions (plus Chile, Colombia, Peru) — may enter Mexico visa-free for tourism, business or transit for up to 180 days. The qualifying visa must be valid for the entire stay; ESTA, eTA Canada, ETIAS and UK ETA do NOT count, only an actual visa or residence card. Filipinos without such a document must book an appointment, attend an in-person interview, and show financial means; the consular fee is about USD 56 (paid in Philippine peso equivalent), with processing typically up to 10 working days. New visa-application requirements took effect 9 August 2025.
