No visa needed. New Zealand ordinary passport holders can visit the Netherlands visa-free for up to 90 days in any 180-day period across the Schengen Area for tourism. The Netherlands is part of the Schengen Area, and New Zealand is on the EU's visa-exempt list. As of 30 May 2026, NZ ordinary passport holders may enter the Netherlands and the wider Schengen Area for tourism, business, family visits or transit without a visa, for stays of up to 90 days within any rolling 180-day period. No advance authorisation is required for the trip today. Two changes affect Kiwi travellers: the EU Entry/Exit System (EES) began operating on 12 October 2025, registering biometrics (fingerprints and a facial image) at the external border in place of passport stamps; and ETIAS, a €20 online travel authorisation, is expected to become mandatory from the last quarter of 2026 — it is not yet required. Until ETIAS launches, no pre-travel application is needed; travellers simply need a valid passport and to satisfy standard entry conditions. The 90/180 limit is counted across all Schengen countries combined, not per country.
