New Zealand to Mexico visa requirements

No visa required. New Zealand ordinary passport holders can enter Mexico visa-free for tourism for up to 180 days; you only need a valid passport and the FMM/FMMd tourist permit. New Zealand ordinary passport holders do NOT need a visa for a short tourist visit to Mexico. Mexico grants visa-exempt entry to New Zealand citizens for non-lucrative stays (tourism, business, transit) of up to 180 days. What you do need is the Forma Migratoria Multiple (FMM) tourist permit. When arriving by air, the FMM fee (983 MXN in 2026, roughly 54-57 USD) is normally bundled into your airfare and the digital permit (FMMd) is issued at immigration on arrival; the air carrier collects it, so most flying tourists pay nothing extra at the airport. The number of days granted is at the discretion of the immigration officer based on your itinerary, and while 180 days is common it is not guaranteed. Your passport should be valid for the duration of your stay (six months validity is widely recommended). Officers may ask to see a return/onward ticket, proof of accommodation, and evidence of sufficient funds. Note a separate state tourism tax (Visitax, ~285 MXN) applies if you visit Quintana Roo (Cancun, Tulum, Playa del Carmen). There is no eVisa or ETA scheme for New Zealanders going to Mexico.
