🇳🇿New Zealand🇬🇧United KingdomNZ-GB New Zealand to United Kingdom visa requirements
New Zealand ordinary passport holders do not need a visitor visa for a short UK tourist visit, but they must hold a UK Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) before travelling unless exempt. The ETA costs £20, is valid for 2 years, and allows multiple stays of up to 6 months. New Zealand ordinary passport holders are visa-exempt for UK Standard Visitor trips such as tourism, visiting family or friends, permitted business visits, or short study of up to 6 months. They must hold a UK Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) before travelling unless exempt; eligible non-European visitors, including New Zealanders, have needed an ETA for UK travel since 8 January 2025, and carrier enforcement of digital permission to travel began on 25 February 2026. The ETA is a digital pre-travel authorisation linked to the passport used to apply. It costs £20 from 8 April 2026, lasts 2 years or until that passport expires, and permits multiple journeys to the UK, Jersey, Guernsey, and the Isle of Man with stays of up to 6 months each. Apply via the official UK ETA app or on GOV.UK; GOV.UK says decisions usually arrive within a day, but travellers should allow up to 3 working days and wait for the approval email before travel. Landside airport transit through UK border control requires an ETA, while airside transit without passing through UK border control is currently exempt. Dual NZ-British or NZ-Irish citizens cannot get an ETA and must instead travel with a valid UK or Irish passport, or another valid passport with a certificate of entitlement.
