New Zealand to Canada visa requirements

New Zealand passport holders do NOT need a visa for short tourist visits to Canada, but they MUST get an electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) before flying. It costs CAD$7, is valid up to 5 years, and permits stays of up to 6 months. New Zealand is a visa-exempt country for Canada. New Zealand ordinary passport holders do not need a visitor visa for ordinary short visits, but they need an electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) to fly to or transit through a Canadian airport. The eTA is electronically linked to the passport used in the application, costs CAD$7, and is valid for up to 5 years or until that passport expires, whichever comes first. Most applications are approved within minutes by email, but Canada may request additional documents within 72 hours. With a valid eTA you can make multiple trips and normally stay for up to 6 months per visit, with the actual authorized period set by the border services officer. In most cases, visa-exempt travellers arriving by land or water do not need an eTA but still need a valid passport. Canadian dual citizens cannot use an eTA to enter Canada and should travel on a Canadian passport.
