Netherlands to Uruguay visa requirements

Dutch (Netherlands) ordinary passport holders do NOT need a visa to visit Uruguay for tourism. You may stay visa-free for up to 90 days, which can be extended once for another 90 days at the migration office in Montevideo. No advance application, eVisa, or ETA is required. Uruguay grants visa-free entry to all European Union nationals, including Netherlands ordinary passport holders, for tourism, business, and family visits of up to 90 days per entry. The 90-day period can be extended for an additional 90 days (total 180) by applying in person at the Dirección Nacional de Migración in Montevideo before the initial stay expires; extensions are not automatic and carry a small fee. No advance authorization is needed - Uruguay does not operate an eVisa or electronic travel authorization system for short tourist stays, and there is no reciprocity/entry tax for Dutch travelers. At the border, immigration officers may ask for proof of onward or return travel and, occasionally, proof of accommodation or sufficient funds. Uruguay is in South America and is not part of the Schengen Area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and EU ETIAS do not apply to entering Uruguay (ETIAS concerns travel INTO Europe). A passport valid for the duration of the trip is sufficient; Uruguay does not enforce a six-month validity rule, though airlines and any transit countries may.
