Netherlands to Mauritania visa requirements

Dutch passport holders need an eVisa for Mauritania. Apply online before departure via the official ANRPTS government portal; the fee (about EUR 55 / USD 60 for a 30-day stay) is paid in cash on arrival. As of 30 May 2026, a Netherlands ordinary passport holder cannot travel to Mauritania visa-free. Mauritania launched an electronic visa (eVisa) system in January 2025, and from 5 January 2025 the previous visa-on-arrival channel was discontinued. All visa-required nationals, including Dutch citizens, must now obtain an approved eVisa online BEFORE boarding their flight (or arriving at a land border). The eVisa is requested through the official Agence Nationale du Registre des Populations et des Titres Sécurisés (ANRPTS) portal at anrpts.gov.mr. There is no online payment on the official portal; instead, the visa fee is collected in cash on arrival at Nouakchott airport or the land border, typically EUR 55 or USD 60 for a 30-day single-entry stay (90-day and 360-day options exist at higher cost). Travelers must present a printed copy of the approved eVisa at immigration. The passport must be valid for at least six months and have a blank page; a yellow fever vaccination certificate may be required, especially for travelers arriving from or transiting yellow-fever risk countries. Mauritania is not part of the Schengen area, so the 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply. Both the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the official Mauritanian portal confirm this eVisa-before-travel requirement.
