Netherlands to Moldova visa requirements

No visa is required. Netherlands ordinary passport holders can enter Moldova visa-free for tourism and short visits for up to 90 days within any 180-day period. Moldova grants visa-free entry to all EU citizens, including Netherlands ordinary passport holders, for stays of up to 90 days within any 180-day period for tourism, business and short visits. Moldova is NOT part of the Schengen Area and is not an EU member, so neither the Schengen 90/180 rule nor ETIAS applies to entry into Moldova; time spent in Moldova is counted separately from any Schengen allowance. Dutch citizens may enter with either a valid passport or a valid machine-readable national ID card. No advance application, fee or online registration is needed; the border police automatically record the date of entry, and overstays are fined and can lead to expulsion. For stays beyond 90 days, work, or study, a long-stay (Type D) visa and/or residence permit is required. A standard recommendation is that the travel document remain valid for the duration of stay (Dutch passports are typically required to be valid for the period of intended stay; many carriers and the destination advise validity beyond the trip). Special note: entering Moldova via the breakaway Transnistria region from the uncontrolled Moldova-Ukraine border sector requires self-reporting to a Moldovan documentation unit within 72 hours.
