Netherlands to Lithuania visa requirements

No visa required. Netherlands and Lithuania are both EU member states, so Dutch nationals enjoy full EU freedom of movement and can enter Lithuania with just a valid passport or national ID card — no visa, no ETIAS, and no time limit for tourist stays. A Netherlands ordinary passport holder needs no visa to visit Lithuania. Both countries are members of the European Union and the Schengen Area, so Dutch citizens travel under EU freedom of movement rules rather than as third-country nationals. Entry is permitted with a valid Dutch passport or national identity card, and there is no border visa, no pre-travel authorisation, and no fee. The Schengen 90/180-day rule does not restrict EU citizens; it applies only to visa-exempt third-country nationals. Likewise, the ETIAS travel authorisation launching in late 2026 applies only to non-EU visa-exempt travellers — EU citizens, including the Dutch, are explicitly exempt when travelling on an EU passport or ID. For ordinary tourism there is effectively no stay limit; the only formality arises if you intend to remain in Lithuania longer than 3 months, in which case you must obtain an EU citizen's residence registration certificate from the local migration authority. For a short visit this never applies. Travellers should simply ensure their travel document is valid for the duration of the trip.
