Netherlands to Israel visa requirements

Netherlands passport holders do not need a traditional visa for tourism in Israel, but since 1 January 2025 they must obtain an approved ETA-IL (Electronic Travel Authorization) online before boarding their flight. It is mandatory, costs NIS 25, and permits stays of up to 90 days. Israel is visa-exempt for Dutch ordinary passport holders for short tourist stays, but as of 1 January 2025 the ETA-IL (Electronic Travel Authorization) became mandatory for all visa-exempt travelers, including every EU/EEA nationality. A Dutch tourist must apply online via the official PIBA portal (israel-entry.piba.gov.il) before travel and receive an approved ETA-IL linked to their passport. The authorization costs NIS 25 (about EUR 7 / USD 7), is normally decided within 72 hours (often within hours), is valid for up to 2 years or until the passport expires, and allows multiple entries with stays of up to 90 days each for tourism, business, transit or family visits (no work or study). The passport should be valid for at least 6 months on arrival. Note: Israel is NOT part of the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply here. An approved ETA-IL is required to board but does not guarantee entry; the final decision rests with the border officer at Ben Gurion or another point of entry. Travelers should apply only through the official government portal to avoid third-party surcharges.
