Netherlands to Guinea-Bissau visa requirements

Dutch passport holders need a visa for Guinea-Bissau. The Netherlands is not on the visa-exempt list (only 14 West-African ECOWAS states are exempt). The practical route for a short tourist stay is a visa on arrival at Osvaldo Vieira International Airport in Bissau (cash only, around EUR 85), valid for up to 90 days. An eVisa / consular visa obtained before departure is the recommended safer alternative. A yellow fever vaccination certificate is mandatory. A Netherlands ordinary passport holder traveling to Guinea-Bissau for tourism requires a visa. Guinea-Bissau grants visa-free entry only to citizens of 14 West-African ECOWAS member states (Benin, Burkina Faso, Cabo Verde, Cote d'Ivoire, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Liberia, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Togo); the Netherlands is not on this list. Dutch nationals and other non-exempt travelers may obtain a visa on arrival at Osvaldo Vieira International Airport in Bissau, valid for a maximum stay of 90 days (commonly issued as a 30-45 day tourist stamp). The visa-on-arrival fee is approximately EUR 85 (around USD 120), payable in exact cash only - cards are not accepted - and you should also carry euros or US dollars. There is no Guinea-Bissau embassy in the Netherlands, so most Dutch travelers either use the visa on arrival or apply in advance via the online pre-enrollment / eVisa system (introduced in 2015) or at a Bissau-Guinean consulate covering the Netherlands (e.g. Lisbon or Brussels). Because immigration practice at Bissau can be inconsistent and the VOA service has occasionally been suspended, obtaining a visa before travel is the more reliable option. A passport valid at least six months beyond arrival, proof of onward/return travel, accommodation details, and a valid yellow fever vaccination certificate are required. Guinea-Bissau is not in the Schengen area, so Schengen 90/180 and ETIAS rules do not apply.
