🇳🇱Netherlands🇬🇲The GambiaNL-GM Netherlands to The Gambia visa requirements
Netherlands ordinary passport holders do NOT need a visa for The Gambia. As EU/Schengen citizens they are on Gambia's official visa-exemption list and may enter visa-free for tourism for up to 90 days with just a valid passport. A Netherlands (NL) ordinary passport holder travelling to The Gambia (GM) for tourism or a short visit does not require a visa. The Gambia Immigration Department's official entry-requirements policy explicitly lists "Schengen/European Union citizens including the United Kingdom and Switzerland" among the nationalities exempt from holding a Gambian visa under standing visa-abolition agreements. Dutch nationals can therefore travel to The Gambia and be admitted on arrival simply on presentation of a valid travel document, with a permitted visa-free stay of up to 90 days for tourism or business that does not exceed that period. There is no Gambian eVisa or visa-on-arrival step required for this nationality, and there is no online pre-registration system (no ETA/ETIAS-equivalent). The Gambia is not part of the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule does not apply to entry into The Gambia (it would apply in reverse to Gambian visitors to the Netherlands). Practical points: every air passenger pays a Securiport/security fee of D1000 (about USD 20 / EUR 20) on both arrival and departure, payable in cash (USD or dalasi) at airport kiosks; this fee is collected at the airport and is not a visa fee (the Gambia Immigration Department notes the airport fee is "not mandated by GID"). On arrival travellers are biometrically enrolled (fingerprints, iris and passport data page) in the Integrated Immigration Control System. A yellow fever vaccination certificate is required for travellers arriving from, or who have transited for more than 12 hours through, a country with risk of yellow fever transmission; a direct flight from the Netherlands does not normally trigger this, but the certificate is commonly recommended. Travellers should hold a passport valid for the duration of stay, proof of onward/return travel and visible means of support.
