Netherlands to Finland visa requirements

No visa required. As an EU citizen, a Netherlands passport (or national ID card) holder can travel to Finland freely under EU freedom of movement — no visa, no ETIAS, and no 90/180-day limit. Both the Netherlands and Finland are members of the European Union and the Schengen Area. Dutch nationals enjoy the EU right of free movement, so a Netherlands ordinary-passport holder does not need any visa or pre-travel authorization to enter Finland for tourism or any other purpose. A valid Dutch passport or national identity card (identiteitskaart) is sufficient — for travel to Finland, Sweden and Norway a valid Dutch ID card is explicitly accepted. The Schengen 90/180-day short-stay limit and the upcoming ETIAS travel authorization apply only to non-EU/visa-exempt third-country nationals; EU citizens like the Dutch are exempt from both and may stay, live and work in Finland without time restriction. The travel document only needs to be valid on the day of travel. Because the Netherlands and Finland share internal Schengen borders, routine border checks are normally not performed, though airlines require a valid travel document at the gate and Finland may reintroduce temporary border controls in exceptional circumstances. ETIAS, expected to launch in late 2026, will never apply to EU nationals.
