Netherlands to Djibouti visa requirements

Dutch passport holders need an eVisa to visit Djibouti for tourism. Apply online before travel through the official government portal at evisa.gouv.dj. Netherlands is not on Djibouti's visa-exemption list, so Dutch ordinary passport holders require a visa for tourism. The recommended and easiest route is the government eVisa, introduced in 2018 and managed at evisa.gouv.dj. Two tourist/short-visit options exist: a transit visa (1-14 days, about USD 12) and a short-stay visa (15-90 days, about USD 23). The eVisa is single-entry and is valid for entry only at Ambouli International Airport (Djibouti-Ambouli, JIB); travelers arriving at other border crossings must obtain a visa from a Djibouti embassy or consulate. Applications are typically processed within about 3-5 business days (often within 72 hours), but applying 10-14 days ahead is advised. A passport valid for at least 6 months with a blank page, a passport photo, a return flight ticket and proof of accommodation are required. A visa on arrival is technically available at Ambouli but is less reliable (airline-dependent), so the eVisa is the safer choice. Djibouti is not in the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply.
