Netherlands to Canada visa requirements

Dutch ordinary passport holders are visa-exempt for Canada, but need an eTA before flying to or transiting through Canada. It costs CAD 7 and visits are normally allowed for up to 6 months. Dutch ordinary passport holders do not need a visitor visa for short visits to Canada. They do need an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) before boarding a flight to Canada or transiting through a Canadian airport. The eTA costs CAD 7, is usually approved within minutes, is electronically linked to the passport, and is valid for up to 5 years or until that passport expires, whichever comes first. With a valid eTA, travellers may visit Canada as often as they want for short stays, normally up to 6 months at a time; the border services officer makes the final admission decision. An eTA is generally not required for arrival by car, bus, train, boat, or cruise ship, but a valid passport is still required. The Dutch travel advisory says a Dutch passport must be valid for the full stay in Canada and notes that children also need a passport and eTA.
