Malaysia to Rwanda visa requirements

Malaysian passport holders can enter Rwanda visa-free for up to 30 days. As a Commonwealth member, Malaysia qualifies for Rwanda's fee-waived visa-on-arrival, granted at the border with no prior application and no charge. Rwanda grants Malaysian ordinary passport holders a fee-waived entry visa on arrival for up to 30 days. This is because Malaysia is a member of the Commonwealth, one of three international organizations (alongside the African Union and La Francophonie) whose member-state citizens Rwanda exempts from visa fees for a 30-day visit. No prior approval is required; the entry permit (visa class VE-1) is issued free of charge on arrival at Kigali International Airport or any land border post. Travelers also have the option to pre-register online via the official Irembo platform for a faster border experience, but this is not mandatory and no fee applies. The passport must be valid for at least 6 months. The stay can be extended in exceptional circumstances. For nationalities outside the exempt organizations, Rwanda charges USD 50 (single entry) or USD 70 (multiple entry) for the standard V1 tourist visa, but this fee does not apply to Malaysians. Effectively, for a short tourist visit, Malaysia-to-Rwanda is visa-free at point of entry, costing nothing.
