Malaysia to Libya visa requirements

Malaysian ordinary passport holders need an eVisa to visit Libya for tourism. There is no genuine visa-free channel and no visa-on-arrival; the eVisa must be obtained online before travel. A Malaysia (MY) ordinary passport holder traveling to Libya (LY) for tourism requires an eVisa, obtained online before departure. Libya launched its electronic visa system on 21 March 2024, and Malaysian citizens are among the eligible nationalities (only Israeli passport holders are excluded from the eVisa, and several nationalities are barred from entry entirely). Some reference tables (and IATA Timatic) still show a "visa not required" status for Malaysia based on an old bilateral arrangement whose status is unclear and which is not operational in practice; the conservative, accurate channel is the eVisa. The tourist eVisa is single entry, valid for 90 days from issue, and permits a stay of up to 30 days, for a fee of about USD 63. Critically, Libya does not permit independent tourism: applicants must have a local sponsor/tour operator who provides a letter of invitation, and tourists are generally escorted by licensed tourism officers throughout their stay. Visa-on-arrival is not available. Processing typically takes 5 to 20 business days. The Malaysian government strongly advises against all travel to Libya for safety reasons, and travelers should also note that any Israeli stamp, visa or marking in the passport will result in denial of entry. Passport must be valid at least six months with blank pages.
