Mexico to Turkmenistan visa requirements

Mexican ordinary passport holders need a visa to enter Turkmenistan. There is no visa-free, eVisa, or simple visa-on-arrival channel available. A tourist visa requires a Letter of Invitation (LOI) certified by Turkmenistan's State Migration Service and arranged through a licensed Turkmen travel agency, after which the visa is issued at a Turkmen embassy or, with an approved LOI, on arrival at Ashgabat airport. As of 2026, Turkmenistan maintains one of the world's most restrictive visa regimes and grants no visa exemptions to Mexican citizens. A Mexico (MX) ordinary passport holder traveling for tourism must obtain a tourist visa, which is built around a Letter of Invitation (LOI) issued by a Turkmen travel agency and certified by the State Migration Service of Turkmenistan. The traveler typically books a tour package (transport, accommodation, guide), the agency files for the LOI, and once approved the visa is collected at a Turkmen embassy/consulate (the nearest serving Mexico is generally in Washington, D.C. or another accredited mission, as there is no resident embassy in Mexico City) or stamped on arrival at Ashgabat International Airport against the approved LOI. Turkmenistan's parliament amended its Migration Law in April 2025 to authorize a new electronic visa system that would abolish the LOI requirement, but as of mid-2026 the operational e-visa platform and the presidential decree setting categories and fees had not yet launched, so the LOI-based process remains the active and only reliable channel. Travelers should plan well ahead: LOI approval typically takes 10-14 working days (express 3-7), and the whole process should begin at least a month before departure.
