Do Mexico passport holders need a visa to visit NL?
No visa needed. Mexican ordinary passport holders can enter the Netherlands and the wider Schengen area visa-free for tourism for up to 90 days within any 180-day period. ETIAS is not yet required (expected Q4 2026). Mexico is on the EU's visa-exempt list for short stays, so Mexican ordinary passport holders do not need a Schengen visa to visit the Netherlands for tourism. You may stay up to 90 days in any rolling 180-day period across the entire Schengen area. Your passport must be valid for at least three months beyond your planned departure from Schengen and have been issued within the previous 10 years. At the border you may be asked to show proof of onward/return travel, accommodation, and sufficient funds. A new pre-travel authorisation, ETIAS, is expected to become operational in the last quarter of 2026; once mandatory it will cost EUR 20 (free for under-18s and over-70s) and be valid for up to 3 years. As of 30 May 2026 ETIAS is NOT yet required, so no application is needed for travel now. The EES (Entry/Exit System) biometric border control is also being rolled out and may add a fingerprint/photo step at the border.
