Mexico to Mozambique visa requirements

Mexican ordinary passport holders need a visa for Mozambique. The recommended route is the Mozambique eVisa, applied for online before departure via the official portal (evisa.gov.mz). Mexico is NOT on the visa-exempt / ETA list, so the cheaper ETA channel does not apply. A visa on arrival technically still exists at major entry points, but Mozambique's 2026 system pushes travelers to obtain the eVisa in advance, and airlines now verify pre-travel authorization before boarding. As of 2026, Mozambique requires Mexican (ordinary passport) tourists to hold a visa. Mozambique launched a new digital visa platform on 11 February 2026 (evisa.gov.mz, run with VFS Global) offering two pre-travel channels: an ETA for a defined list of visa-exempt nationalities (about 25 countries, not including Mexico) and a full eVisa for everyone else. Mexican citizens therefore must use the eVisa. A tourist eVisa is single entry, allows a stay of up to 30 days, and costs roughly 6,250 MZN (about USD 50). Standard processing runs about 10-15 working days, with faster paid express options; some operators advertise approvals in about 5 business days. A USD 50 visa on arrival is still listed at airports such as Maputo, Vilanculos, Pemba and Beira and key land borders, but it is increasingly unreliable in 2026 and may lead to boarding refusal because carriers check for pre-travel authorization. The safe, recommended choice is to apply for the eVisa before travel. Requirements include a passport valid at least six months with two blank pages, a return/onward ticket, proof of accommodation, proof of sufficient funds and a passport photo. Mozambique is not in the Schengen area, so Schengen 90/180 and ETIAS rules do not apply.
