Mexico to Libya visa requirements

Mexican ordinary passport holders need a visa for Libya. Since 21 March 2024 a Tourist eVisa is available online (single entry, up to 30 days stay, fee around USD 63), but it requires a sponsor or letter of invitation from a licensed Libyan tour operator. Independent tourism is generally not permitted. Libya does not grant visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to Mexican citizens. Only Algeria, Tunisia, and a few neighboring states are visa-exempt. Mexicans must obtain a visa before travel. Libya launched an official eVisa system (evisa.gov.ly) on 21 March 2024; the Tourist eVisa is single entry, valid 90 days from issue, and permits a stay of up to 30 days for a fee of approximately USD 63. Critically, Libya does not allow independent tourism: applicants must arrange travel through a licensed Libyan tour operator who provides a sponsorship letter / letter of invitation and security approval. Travelers must also carry at least USD 1,000 (or local-currency equivalent) on arrival. Libya is NOT part of the Schengen area, so the 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply. Note that many governments (including foreign ministries worldwide) advise against all travel to Libya due to the security situation; this guide covers visa procedure only and is not a safety endorsement.
