Mexico to Latvia visa requirements

Mexican ordinary passport holders can travel to Latvia visa-free for tourism for up to 90 days within any 180-day period, under the EU short-stay visa waiver. No visa is needed before the ETIAS authorization launches (expected late 2026). Latvia is a member of the Schengen Area, and Mexico holds an EU visa-waiver agreement, so Mexican ordinary passport holders enter Latvia visa-free for short stays. The maximum permitted stay is 90 days within any rolling 180-day period, counted cumulatively across all Schengen states, not Latvia alone. The Latvia Ministry of Foreign Affairs official list explicitly names Mexico as exempt from short-stay visas. No advance authorization is currently required: ETIAS, the European Travel Information and Authorisation System, is expected to begin operations in the last quarter of 2026 with a transition period, and only after it becomes mandatory will Mexican travelers need to obtain an ETIAS (a one-time online pre-authorization, not a visa) before boarding. As of June 2026 ETIAS is not yet enforced, so a valid passport remains sufficient. Travelers should carry proof of onward/return travel, accommodation, sufficient funds, and travel medical insurance with at least 30,000 EUR coverage, as border officers may request these. Stays longer than 90 days or for work, study, or residence require a national long-stay visa or residence permit obtained in advance.
