Do Mexico passport holders need a visa to visit IE?
No visa needed. As of 6 April 2026, Mexican ordinary passport holders can enter Ireland visa-free for tourism for up to 90 days. Mexico became a non-visa-required nationality for Ireland on 6 April 2026, removing the previous requirement that Mexican citizens obtain a short-stay (C) visa before travel. Ordinary Mexican passport holders may now enter Ireland for tourism or short business visits for up to 90 days without applying for any visa in advance. There is no eVisa, ETA, or visa-on-arrival to complete — travelers simply present a valid passport and supporting documents at the Irish border. Note that Ireland is NOT part of the Schengen Area, so this waiver applies only to the Republic of Ireland; the 90 days is counted independently of any Schengen stay. Onward travel to continental Europe still triggers separate Schengen rules and the future ETIAS authorization. Entry remains at the discretion of the Irish immigration officer, who may ask for proof of onward/return travel and sufficient funds.
