Do Mexico passport holders need a visa to visit France (Schengen)?

Mexican ordinary passport holders do NOT need a visa to visit France for tourism. France is in the Schengen Area, so Mexicans can stay up to 90 days within any 180-day period visa-free. ETIAS is not yet required (expected late 2026). Mexico is on the EU Schengen visa-exempt list, so ordinary Mexican passport holders may enter France and the rest of the Schengen Area for tourism, business, family visits or transit without a visa, for a maximum of 90 days in any rolling 180-day period. You simply need a passport valid for at least 3 months beyond your intended departure and issued within the last 10 years. The Entry/Exit System (EES) began phased rollout at Schengen external borders on 12 October 2025, registering biometrics (fingerprints and facial image) in place of passport stamps. The ETIAS travel authorisation (a €20 online waiver, not a visa) is expected to launch in the last quarter of 2026; until it becomes mandatory after a transition period, Mexicans continue to travel completely visa- and authorisation-free. As of 30 May 2026, no ETIAS is required. For stays over 90 days or for work/study, a national long-stay visa from a French consulate is required.
