🇲🇽MEXICO🇪🇸SPAIN (SCHENGEN)MX-ES Do Mexico passport holders need a visa to visit Spain (Schengen)?
No visa needed. Mexican ordinary passport holders can enter Spain and the wider Schengen Area visa-free for up to 90 days in any 180-day period for tourism. Mexico appears in Annex II of EU Regulation 2018/1806, the list of countries whose nationals are exempt from a short-stay visa for the Schengen Area. Spain is a full Schengen member, so Mexican ordinary passport holders may travel there for tourism without any visa for up to 90 days within any rolling 180-day period. You simply arrive with a valid passport and supporting documents (return ticket, proof of funds, accommodation) and may be checked at the border. A new pre-travel authorisation, ETIAS, is expected to launch around the last quarter of 2026 (with a transitional period afterwards). As of 30 May 2026 ETIAS is NOT yet operational and is NOT required, so no online authorisation is needed today. Once ETIAS goes live it will cost EUR 20, be valid up to three years for multiple trips, and will be a waiver rather than a visa.

For guidance only — visa rules change with little notice. Always confirm directly with the destination's embassy or foreign ministry before booking non-refundable travel. Information here applies to ordinary (non-diplomatic) passports unless noted.
