South Korea to Sudan visa requirements

South Korean ordinary passport holders need a visa obtained in advance to enter Sudan - there is no visa-free entry, visa-on-arrival, or general eVisa channel for short tourist stays. Critically, the South Korean government currently maintains a Level 4 travel ban on Sudan (active since 29 April 2023, extended to 31 July 2026) due to the ongoing civil war, making travel by Korean nationals unlawful regardless of visa status. Sudan (SD), not to be confused with South Sudan (SS), requires nationals of nearly all countries - including South Korea - to obtain an entry visa before arrival through a Sudanese embassy or consulate. Sudanese tourist/visit visas typically require prior approval from Sudan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs arranged by a sponsor (relative, host, company, or approved hotel/travel agency in Sudan), a sponsorship or invitation letter, proof of funds, and a passport valid at least 6 months. Consular fees run roughly USD 154-159 and processing can take up to about 10 working days. Beyond the visa itself, the decisive factor is that South Korea's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has designated all of Sudan a Level 4 "Travel Ban" zone since 29 April 2023, with the designation extended to 31 July 2026. Under Korea's Passport Act, Korean nationals who enter or stay in a travel-banned country without special permission face criminal penalties of up to one year imprisonment or a fine of up to KRW 10 million. There is also no Schengen relevance (Sudan is in Africa, not Europe). For a short tourist visit, the practical answer is that ordinary tourism is not currently feasible: even with a Sudanese visa, Korean nationals are legally barred from travelling there until the ban is lifted. The honest verdict for visa policy purposes is "visa-required," but travelers must be aware of the overriding Korean travel ban.
