South Korea to Laos visa requirements

South Korean ordinary passport holders can enter Laos visa-free for up to 30 days for tourism under a long-standing visa exemption arrangement (in effect since 1 September 2008). No advance visa, eVisa, or visa-on-arrival is needed for stays within 30 days. A holder of an ordinary Republic of Korea (South Korea) passport does not need a visa for tourist or short visits to Laos of up to 30 days. Laos has granted South Korean nationals a unilateral visa exemption since 1 September 2008, and South Korea is one of roughly a dozen-plus countries (including ASEAN states, Japan, Russia and Mongolia) enjoying a 30-day visa-free entry. Travelers simply receive an entry stamp on arrival at an international airport or land/river border open to foreigners. The passport should be valid for at least six months beyond the date of entry and have at least one blank page. Onward/return travel and proof of sufficient funds may be requested. If a stay longer than 30 days is required, travelers must instead obtain an eVisa or visa-on-arrival (each allowing up to 30 days, extendable inside Laos at the Immigration Department), or apply for an extension before the exempt period expires. Note: as of 1 February 2024 the South Korean government bars its citizens from the Golden Triangle Special Economic Zone (Bokeo Province) for safety reasons. Travelers should reconfirm the policy within 72 hours of departure, as Laos periodically adjusts its visa rules.
