South Korea to Iraq visa requirements

A South Korea ordinary passport holder needs a visa to enter Iraq, and the standard route is an electronic visa (eVisa) obtained before travel. IMPORTANT: South Korea's Ministry of Foreign Affairs maintains a Level 4 travel ban on Iraq, so Korean nationals are legally prohibited from going without special government authorization. As of 1 March 2025, Iraq suspended visa-on-arrival for most nationalities and requires an electronic visa (eVisa) applied for online before departure via the official portal at evisa.iq. South Korea is among the nationalities that must use the eVisa system; applicants needing in-person handling may instead apply at the Embassy of Iraq in Seoul. The Iraqi tourist eVisa is a single-entry document valid for entry within three months of issuance and allowing a stay of about 30 days (extendable in some cases). The Iraqi embassy in Seoul lists the government tourist-visa fee at roughly USD 30, while the eVisa portal and many third-party services quote a higher all-in figure around USD 160 once service and processing charges are included. The eVisa is valid for Federal Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. CRITICAL OVERLAY: South Korea's MOFA designates all of Iraq a Level 4 'travel ban / passport invalid' zone. Korean citizens and permanent residents are legally barred from traveling to or staying in Iraq, with penalties of up to one year imprisonment under the Passport Act, unless they obtain exceptional passport-use authorization from MOFA in advance. So even though an Iraqi eVisa is technically obtainable, lawful travel additionally requires Korean government permission.
