Japan to Yemen visa requirements

Japanese ordinary passport holders need a visa to enter Yemen. There is no visa-free entry and no visa on arrival for Japanese citizens. A visa must be arranged in advance, and tourist access is currently extremely limited and discouraged. A Japan ordinary passport holder cannot enter Yemen visa-free or via visa-on-arrival. Yemen grants visa-on-arrival only to about 11 nationalities (mostly Arab/GCC states); Japan is not among them. A visa must be obtained in advance. Yemen launched an electronic visa portal (yemenevisa.org) on 24 June 2025, run by the Immigration, Passports and Nationality Authority with IOM support, but tourist access is effectively restricted to group applications (minimum 10 travelers) booked through a Yemeni travel agency accredited by the General Authority for Tourism, with round-trip tickets. Individual leisure tourism is not practically available, and entry visa issuance has been largely on hold except for limited categories (Yemeni-origin foreigners, aid/UN workers, journalists, diplomats). Critically, Yemen is under a Level 4 "Evacuate / Do Not Travel" advisory from Japan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and virtually every other government due to ongoing armed conflict, terrorism, and kidnapping risk. Travel for tourism is strongly discouraged regardless of visa status. Because no reliable individual no-visa or VOA channel exists, the verdict is visa-required.

· Group tourism only· yemenevisa.org

Submit the application
Create a profile on the official eVisa portal (yemenevisa.org) and complete the visa-type form with uploaded documents, or lodge a paper application at the Yemeni mission accredited to Japan.

/05
Pay the fee and await approval
Pay the applicable visa fee. eVisa decisions are issued by email in about 3-5 working days; embassy processing can take roughly 2 weeks pending approval from authorities in Yemen.
· Fee payment· Approval wait
