Japan to Chad visa requirements

Japanese passport holders need a visa to visit Chad. As of May 2026, Chad requires an electronic visa (eVisa) obtained in advance through the official government portal at evisa.td. Japan is not on Chad's visa-exemption list, and paper or on-arrival options are no longer accepted. A Japanese ordinary passport holder traveling to Chad (TD) for tourism or a short visit must obtain a visa before arrival. Chad launched its national electronic visa system (evisa.td) in December 2024 and has made the eVisa mandatory for all foreign travelers: from 11 May 2026 every new visa application must be filed through the official online portal, and from 21 May 2026 any visa obtained outside that platform no longer permits entry. Japan does not appear on Chad's list of visa-exempt nationalities (which includes countries such as Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong and the Philippines), so a Japanese tourist must apply online for the eVisa. The standard tourist eVisa is single-entry, typically issued for a 30-day stay (longer-validity options exist), with online review usually taking up to about 10 working days. Applicants upload a passport bio-data page, a recent photo, return/onward flight booking, and proof of accommodation; the passport must be valid at least six months with two blank pages. After arrival, all visitors must complete police registration within 72 hours. Because Japan has no visa-waiver channel for Chad and on-arrival/paper routes have been discontinued, travelers should apply through evisa.td well ahead of departure (at least 7 days, and no earlier than 90 days before entry).
