Chad launched its national electronic visa system (evisa.td) in December 2024 and has made the eVisa mandatory for all foreign travelers: from 11 May 2026 every new visa application must be filed through the official online portal, and from 21 May 2026 any visa obtained outside that platform no longer permits entry. Japan does not appear on Chad's list of visa-exempt nationalities (which includes countries such as Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong and the Philippines), so a Japanese tourist must apply online for the eVisa.
