Japan to Paraguay visa requirements

Japanese ordinary passport holders do NOT need a visa to visit Paraguay for tourism. They may enter visa-free and stay up to 90 days. A passport valid for at least six months is required, and entry/exit stamps are issued at the border. Paraguay grants visa-free entry to holders of ordinary Japanese passports for short visits (tourism, business, technical) of up to 90 days. As of June 1, 2025, Japan and Paraguay implemented a mutual short-stay visa-waiver arrangement (announced at the May 21, 2025 Ishiba-Pena summit), under which nationals of each country can travel to the other without a visa for stays not exceeding 90 days. No visa, eVisa, ETA, or visa-on-arrival is required for the Japanese tourist. Paraguay is in South America and is not part of the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply. Travelers need a passport valid for at least six months beyond the date of entry, and entry/exit stamps are placed in the passport. Stays beyond 90 days, residence, or other non-tourist purposes require applying to Paraguay's immigration authority (Direccion General de Migraciones) after entry.
