Japan to Lesotho visa requirements

No visa needed. Japanese ordinary passport holders can enter Lesotho visa-free for tourism and short visits for up to 90 days. Japan is on Lesotho's visa-exemption list in the top tier (90 days), meaning ordinary passport holders may travel for tourism or short visits without applying for a visa in advance and without an on-arrival fee. At the port of entry an immigration officer stamps a visitor's permit (typically up to 90 days) free of charge. Travelers must hold a passport valid for at least six months beyond entry with blank pages, and should carry proof of onward/return travel, accommodation details, and sufficient funds. Note that most travelers reach Lesotho via South Africa (the country is fully enclosed by South Africa), so South African entry/transit rules also apply on the way in. Lesotho's e-Visa portal exists but is currently suspended; this does not affect visa-exempt Japanese tourists, who do not need it. If you intend to stay beyond the granted period, you must apply for an extension at the Department of Immigration in Maseru before the permit expires. Lesotho is not in the Schengen area, so Schengen 90/180 and ETIAS rules do not apply.
