Japan to Jordan visa requirements

Japanese ordinary passport holders do NOT travel visa-free to Jordan, but they can get a visa on arrival (40 JOD, 30 days, single entry) at Queen Alia International Airport and most land/sea borders. An eVisa can also be obtained online before travel, and buying a Jordan Pass before arrival waives the visa fee entirely if you stay at least 3 nights. As of mid-2026, Japan is on Jordan's visa-on-arrival list. A Japanese ordinary passport holder arriving for tourism receives a single-entry visa valid for a 30-day stay for 40 JOD, payable in cash at the airport or land border (King Hussein/Allenby Bridge from the West Bank is an exception where VoA is not issued). Travelers may instead apply for the official Jordan eVisa online through the Ministry of Interior portal before departure (recommended for smoother entry), or purchase a Jordan Pass online, which waives the visa fee for visitors staying a minimum of three nights and bundles entry to Petra and 40+ attractions. The passport must be valid for at least six months beyond the planned departure date, and proof of onward travel and accommodation may be requested. Jordan is not in the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply. Sources are broadly consistent on VoA eligibility for Japan; one Wikipedia summary appeared to conflate Japan's exclusion from the diplomatic-passport waiver with ordinary passports, but the Embassy of Japan, Jordan Pass FAQ, and multiple travel-authority sources confirm ordinary passport holders qualify for VoA/eVisa.
