Do Japan passport holders need a visa to visit Egypt?

Japanese ordinary passport holders need a visa for Egypt. The easiest option is the official Egypt e-Visa, applied online before travel; a visa on arrival is also available at major airports. Japan is not visa-exempt for Egypt. Japanese ordinary passport holders must obtain a visa for tourism, and there are two practical routes. The recommended one is the official Egypt e-Visa (visa2egypt.gov.eg), an online single- or multiple-entry tourist visa with a government fee of about USD 25 (single entry) that allows a stay of up to 30 days and is valid for entry within 90 days of issue (180 days for multiple entry). A visa on arrival for around USD 25 is also issued at major international airports such as Cairo, but it requires queueing at a dedicated bank counter before immigration. Apply for the e-Visa at least 7 days before departure. The passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry. Beware of unofficial third-party sites that add service fees of USD 15-20 on top of the government charge.
