Japan to Ecuador visa requirements

No visa required. Japanese ordinary passport holders may enter Ecuador visa-free for tourism for up to 90 days within a rolling 12-month period. Japan ordinary passport holders do not need a visa for short tourist visits to Ecuador. There is no formal visa-waiver treaty between the two countries, but Ecuador unilaterally grants visa-free entry to Japanese tourists. On arrival you receive a Tourist Stamp (commonly the T-3 entry), allowing a stay of up to 90 days, counted cumulatively within a rolling 12-month period measured from your first entry — not per visit and not per calendar year. Japan is not on Ecuador's list of roughly 45 nationalities (updated 1 September 2025) that must obtain a visa before travel. Your passport should be valid for at least 6 months beyond entry, and immigration officers may ask for proof of onward/return travel, a hotel booking, and sufficient funds. Ecuador is not part of the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply here.
