Italy to Zambia visa requirements
Italian (ordinary passport) tourists do NOT need a visa for Zambia. Italy is on Zambia's visa-exempt list (EU nationals have entered visa-free since October 2022, reaffirmed in the January 2025 expansion to 167 visa-free nationalities). You receive a free entry stamp on arrival valid for an initial stay of up to 30 days, extendable up to a maximum of 90 days in any 12-month period. As of 30 May 2026, holders of an ordinary Italian passport can travel to Zambia for tourism without any visa. Zambia waived visa requirements for European Union nationals in October 2022 and, effective 1 January 2025, expanded its visa-exempt list to 167 countries and territories. Italy is not among the EU exceptions, so Italian tourists are granted a free visitor entry stamp at the port of entry. The standard entry permits a stay of up to 30 days, which can be extended twice (30 days each) at a Zambian immigration office at no charge, up to a maximum cumulative stay of 90 days within any 12-month period. No advance application, eVisa, or visa fee is required for this visa-free category. Travelers must still hold a passport valid for at least six months beyond arrival with at least two (officially three recommended) blank pages, and may be asked for proof of onward/return travel, sufficient funds, and accommodation. Yellow fever vaccination is only required if arriving from or transiting a country with risk of yellow fever transmission. Italian travelers who also plan to visit Zimbabwe (and day-trip to Botswana) can optionally use the KAZA UNIVISA (USD 50), but it is not required for Zambia alone since Italy is visa-free. Always carry printed proof of return ticket and accommodation, as border officers may request them.
