Italy to Tajikistan visa requirements

Italian (ordinary) passport holders do NOT need a visa for short tourist stays in Tajikistan. Italy is on Tajikistan's unilateral visa-free list and citizens can enter and stay up to 30 days without a visa. As of 2026, Italy is on Tajikistan's unilateral visa-free list, in effect since 1 January 2022. Italian ordinary passport holders may enter Tajikistan for tourism without a visa and stay up to 30 days per entry. No advance application, no fee, and no e-visa is required for stays within 30 days. Travelers should carry a passport valid for at least 6 months beyond the intended stay and be able to show proof of onward/return travel. If you intend to stay longer than 30 days, you must instead obtain Tajikistan's e-visa (online via evisa.tj, USD 30 single-entry, up to 60 days). Note: visiting the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO, including the Pamir Highway/Wakhan) requires a separate GBAO permit regardless of visa status; this is commonly purchased as a USD 20 add-on within the e-visa application or arranged locally. There is no Schengen-style entry/exit system or ETIAS for Tajikistan, and travelers should confirm any current registration rules for longer stays (registration with immigration is generally required for stays beyond a set period, historically around 10 days, though enforcement varies). The separate Tajikistan-Italy diplomatic/service passport waiver signed in 2024 does not affect ordinary passport holders, who already travel visa-free.
