Italy to Saudi Arabia visa requirements

Italian ordinary passport holders need a visa for Saudi Arabia, but qualify for the quick, fully online tourist eVisa (visa-on-arrival is also available at Saudi airports). Italy is one of roughly 66 nationalities eligible for Saudi Arabia's tourist eVisa, introduced in 2019 and continually expanded. An Italian citizen with an ordinary passport applies online through the official Visit Saudi portal (visa.visitsaudi.com), receives the visa typically within minutes, and may use it for tourism, leisure, family visits, and Umrah (outside the Hajj season). The eVisa is a one-year, multiple-entry visa allowing stays of up to 90 days per visit. The total cost is around SAR 535, which bundles the SAR 300 government visa fee with mandatory medical insurance (~SAR 235). The same eligible nationals may alternatively obtain a visa on arrival at any of Saudi Arabia's international airports, but applying online before departure is strongly recommended for reliability and to avoid airport queues. Saudi Arabia is not in the Schengen area, so the 90/180 Schengen rule and ETIAS do not apply. As of mid-2026, no visa-free or visa-waiver agreement exists between Italy and Saudi Arabia for ordinary passports, so a valid visa (eVisa or VOA) remains mandatory.
